"Built to be a Blessing"  -   Celebration

Just over 100 years ago, our church campus on the corner of El Dorado and Vine was dedicated on March 25, 1923. Throughout the century of life and worship in this beautiful building, God has worked in such amazing ways. To give thanks and celebrate this extraordinary milestone, we are planning a weekend of festivities on campus. Our theme for the celebration is Built to Be a Blessing, and we will be celebrating the ways that this church campus has been a blessing for our congregation and city. We are inviting anyone who has been a part of our church’s story to join us for either or both of our planned events (see below), and we would love to see you!

Community Festival on Saturday the 25th from 11 am to 3 pm. Our campus will come alive with bounce houses and art activities for kids, food for purchase, musical performances from local schools and community groups, church tours, booths/events hosted by our community partners, and so much more. Make sure to follow us on Facebook and check your emails as a schedule of performances and activities will be sent out as we get closer to the event.

Special Anniversary Worship Service on Sunday the 26th at 4 pm. This special service will feature joyful worship, reflections on the history of our building, an organ piece to celebrate our historic E.M. Skinner organ, special guests, and more. Following the service, we will share a special meal catered by Grace & Mercy Charitable Foundation to continue commemorating God’s faithfulness shown in a century of church and community life. In order to make sure we have enough food, we ask that you RSVP by March 12th (but the sooner the better!) if you plan to attend the dinner. Of course, all will be welcome to join us whether or not they have RSVP’d.

We would absolutely love to see you at our 100th Anniversary weekend! Please contact our office with any questions, or to join in the fun of volunteering for the event.

Meet our new Accompanist Hyejun "Jun" Lee

Jun is a classical pianist who works as a collaborative pianist and piano teacher in Stockton, California. Jun believes that music is an essential part of life as it brings imagination and comfort to people of all ages. She values music because of its power to form interactions between the performer and the audience and its humble nature of including everyone in the experience regardless of one’s background in music. In addition to making music on the piano, she began her organ studies to offer a variety of music in church services and at special events. In her performing career while she studied at University of the Pacific, Jun won the Concerto Competition in 2022 and was selected in the Conservatory of Music to play in Honor’s Recital for four consecutive years. Jun holds a BM in Piano Performance from University of the Pacific, and she is currently exploring her career as a musician in Stockton as well as preparing to further her studies in graduate school.

Food Pantry At First Presbyterian

Do you or someone you know need a little help with food? Come on Wednesday afternoon from 2 to 3pm for a little help. In addition, we have clothing and books available.

All of us are interested in safety!

We are looking for a team of people to organize an event in Stockton.  On Thursday, August 19, 2021 we were privileged to participate in a national RAWtools training on Zoom, where we saw guns turned into useful tools.  We learned that many people are in possession of unwanted firearms and have no trusted place to discard them without fear of them getting back out into the market. It may be a gun you've inherited, or one used in suicide. It may be a gun where children, grandchildren or elderly people are in the home. These guns lead to unintentional shootings and can be stolen and used to hurt others.

Disarming your unwanted gun is the only way you can be sure
your gun will not be used for harm in the future.  Across our nation, Guns into Gardens Disarming Events are being held.  People are invited to bring their unloaded firearm(s) stored in the trunk of their vehicle to a specific site where a Guns to Gardens team member will remove it for disarming in their presence by making strategic cuts to render the piece unusable as a firearm.  Scrap materials will be sent to RAWtools to be made into garden tools.  There will be a task for everyone on the team: serve donuts and coffee, advertise the event, find a site, borrow a metal-cutting chop saw, operate the saw, provide trauma counseling, document the event, and many other tasks.

If you are interested, please email Doug and Cheryl Hunt at

We can forward links to the training event we attended, as well as other useful links.

COVID-19 Restrictions Lifted (As of July 13, 2021)

We are happy to report that, following the most recent Public Health Department suggestions, we have lifted all COVID-19 restrictions.

We have returned to in-person worship at 11:00am, there are no seating

restrictions, and we are no longer requiring masks. With this in mind, you are welcome to wear a mask if you have health concerns, are unvaccinated, or that makes you feel more comfortable in a public place. Please remember that as we return to pre-COVID “normal” many people are still uncomfortable in large groups without a mask. As a community of faith, we hope you will always be kind and respect others’ decisions.

In addition to in-person worship, we are continuing to stream the worship service on YouTube Live.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during these times. If you have an questions or concerns, please call the Church Office at 209-465-2653 or email at office@fpcstockton.org.
